You’ve probably heard of shrinkflation—same price, but you get less. Well, it’s happening in sails too.
Some sailmakers strip down their base sails to advertise a low price, then upsell you with “Captain” or “Explorer” packages just to get back to decent quality. At Rolly Tasker, we believe quality should come standard. Here’s what you should be getting in every sail:
- Quality sailcloth from a trusted brand. If they don’t say where the cloth is from, it’s probably cheap or imported from unknown sources.
- Radial corner patches, not block patches. Radial patches hold shape better and last longer—we use them on all our sails.
- Premium, UV-resistant thread. We use it across the board—no “upgrade” needed.
- Sail bags, telltales, and triple zig-zag stitching. These aren’t extras—they’re basics.
