Print the downloadable version of the measurement guide you need to organize your measurements.

For custom sails, follow all of the steps and be detailed and specific about your requirements including hardware and tack pin set back. For stock sails focus on the basics; dimensions, cloth weight, and luff types on headsails. Then perform a search by luff length leaving boat type “Unspecified”. A close fit is good but an exact fit is not necessary. Measure according to the instructions below and fill in the boxes. Please be conservative when ordering and allow a few inches for stretch or error. A little short is fine but too long can be a problem.

Measuring

It is best to measure the sails on the boat. If the sail is not available, you can also measure the rig of the boat. Measuring sails that are not stretched to the proper tension will result in faulty measurements. Please do not measure on the ground. Sail is labeled as being for 'Catalina 25 Tall Rig', but fits my Pearson 26 like a glove, and I'm very happy with it. Shipping was fast, and OTD price much more competitive than my local lofts.

I ordered this stock mainsail for my Piper One Design sailboat. I'm pretty sure that the sail is intended to fit the Pearson Ensign/Electra but it works great on my boat. The measurements are within an inch or two of the one-design specs. It's well made, sets well, and delivery was prompt. I'm very happy with this sail!

This Rolly Tasker full battened mainsail was listed as the right size for a Catalina 25 Tall Rig. The luff seems correct, but the foot is about 12” shorter than an original Catalina mainsail.

Hi Marcio, thank you for sharing your experience. The sail is the correct size for the Catalina 25 Tall Rig matching Catalina's specifications and the sail that would have shipped with the original boat. The P dimension (Mainsail Luff) is 27 feet 8 inches while the E dimension (Mainsail Foot) is 9 feet 7 inches which matches the sail. It should be noted that Catalina did ship boats with a lot of room at the top of the mast and end of the boom. Someone over time probably put a oversized sail on the boat. This sail was the perfect option for me. I bought it as a gift so wasn’t able to get exact measurements. I ordered based on standard specs and it fit perfectly. The sail has performed well and still looks like new after a full season of sailing.

Great price and quality

Was absolutely identical to the OEM that came on the Macgregor. Went into the roller sleeve perfectly and with ease.

Not sure if this is the only sail that you recommend for my CDI furler. I think that a standard jib,if available,would have been better for my Macgregor 222. I do have the option of not using the entire sail with the use of the furler for easier tacking and gybing.

It wasn’t made from the material I expected. It is quite noisy.

Hi Mary - sorry if it is louder than you expect. That is what a new sail will do. Overtime, the sail will soften up and the sound of the luffing sail will quite down. But all new sails should have that crisp feel and be fairly loud when luffing.

Ordered this sail to replace an old mainsail that came with the boat. I was looking for a mainsail that would allow the boom to ride slightly higher as I installed a Bimini on my boat. This sail was exactly what I needed and worked out perfect.
